Fable 3 Preview

Haven't played this series, but I know a few die-hard fans of it.  Looks pretty good.

Features (From IGN):

  • Be the hero and forge your own destiny. Storytelling comes to life as Fable III puts you and your hero in the center of an epic journey that traces your rise from revolutionary to ruler and beyond, along with all the action, drama and humor. Interacting with the world of Albion has never been easier or more rewarding. The Expressions system offers an ingenious new Dynamic Touch feature that allows your hero to reach out and embrace a loved one, or exact retribution against those who have betrayed you. Your hero, your faithful canine companion and even your weapons now also evolve to extremes mirroring your morality and personal style of combat. The emotional connections players will develop in the world of Fable III will lead to some of the most memorable moments ever experienced in a game.

  • Where blockbuster action meets adventure. Your journey spans from the streets of a thriving and industrialized Albion to the surrounding battlefields. The pioneering one-button combat system allows players to easily combine different styles in their arsenal – hand-to-hand melee attacks, long-range precision shooting and wickedly catastrophic spells – to advance the one-button combat mechanic to a full scale, thrilling level that offers infinite ways to engage, experiment and compete.

  • Choice and consequence. A core tenet of the Fable franchise, players are presented with infinite choices and consequences that impact the world around them. Good or evil, loved or loathed, career versus family, or just you and your faithful canine companion – live the life you have always dreamed. More so than ever before, your choices lead to far more profound outcomes that impact your every being. Whether it's deciding the outcome of minor squabbles or changing the direction of the entire kingdom, these key decisions will change the world forever.

    Penumbra

Frictional Games is an indie game company from Sweden.  Their first release, Penumbra: Overture, is one of the best games of it's genre.

"Set in the year 2000, Penumbra: Overture follows the story of Philip, a thirty-year-old physicist whose mother recently died. After receiving a mysterious letter from his supposedly dead father, Philip follows a series of clues that lead to him to a mysterious location in uninhabited northern Greenland. The harsh cold forces him to take shelter in an abandoned mine. Unfortunately, the mine's entrance collapses as he enters it, and he is forced to move deeper inside. Within the mine, Philip discovers diary extracts written by a scientist of some sort, who was alone and gradually resorted to eating cave-dwelling spiders as an alternative food source as his supplies diminished."

From my experience playing it, it's one of the only games that could get my heart racing, and make me almost fear what's coming next.  You can buy Penumbra: Overture, or the other 2 Penumbra games in the trilogy, at the official Penumbra website (http://www.penumbragame.com)

Also, Halloween4545 on YouTube has a series of videos of him playing Penumbra: Overture as well as the others, you can visit his page:

    Speccy

I've found a new program that's really nice to have.  It's called Speccy (http://www.piriform.com/speccy).  Speccy's job is to scan your system and show you what all the hardware in your computer is.  For example, after scanning my computer (15-20 seconds) it brings up a list of all the hardware installed on my computer in specific (see below)

Speccy is really nice if you ever need to keep track of your hardware.  I ran into a situation a few days ago where my brother wanted to check what kind of processors his motherboard would run.  Well, he ended up buying the wrong one and wasting $35.  With Speccy, he'd have been able to scan his computer for the exact make and model of his motherboard, and used that information to buy a processor that fits.  Speccy itself is less that 5mb and is very simple to use, just open the program and it's all listed for you.

    The Rambling Fool

Someone I went to school with decided to also make a blog some months ago.  His website is called "The Rambling Fool".  I enjoyed his posts so much that I decided to put a window off to the right with his feed for now.  Check him out:

I came across this site the other day.  You can make money by writing articles for other people to read.  I've made one article so far (link).  It's definately not one of the "fast money making schemes" I see all over the place.  It takes a couple days for articles to even be accepted, and you start off making $1.50 per 1,000 unique views to your article.  If you worked on it and had several dozen articles getting a couple hundred hits a day though, you could start to see some profit off of it.

They even have an option once you get very regular and popular with your articles that they will buy your article for a lump sum (by lump sum, don't get excited.  It's more like $20) upfront to own the rights to your work.  There's some neat stuff on there too, I've gotten quite a few leads from google to articles.
